Each year, the Neurosurgical Society of the Virginias selects the best clinical science and basic science presentations by the residents at the annual meeting. The Jane-Nugent award, in honor of Dr. John Jane and Dr. Robert Nugent, is given to the best basic science presentation. The Crutchfield- Gage-Thomson award, in honor of Dr. Gale Crutchfield, Dr. Lyle Gage, and Dr. James Thomson, is given to the best clinical science presentation. A second and third place award is selected for each category as well.
